New Year’s Resolutions for 2024

Can you believe it is 2024 already? To me, it feels like 2023 was just yesterday! How did last year turn out for you? Was it what you were hoping for, or did it leave a lot to be desired? If so, how did you do with them? Have you made any new ones for 2024? Reflecting on the twists and turns of the previous year, it’s clear that time doesn’t stand still, and neither should we. Though the irony is that there is no correlation between New Year’s Resolutions and happiness. None the less, I thought that I would share some of mine for the year 2024.

Read through the Bible

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to read through the Bible in its entirety. For a number of years I have had a goal of reading through the entire Bible, but I have fallen well short each time. With the lack of Biblical literacy I have been trying to encourage others to do the same. So I will be using The Bible Recap chronological reading plan this year. I would urge you to consider joining me on this journey.

Resolution of Having
More Consistent Spiritual Habits

Walking daily with the Lord involves more than just reading the bible every day. It involves being active in a local church, being part of a small group, consistent prayer time on your own, and privately studying scripture on your own in addition to Sunday church. While I attend church weekly, and I am involved in a small group, but being consistent in praying on my own has been a weakness. So my third New Year’s Resolution is to set aside time for prayer that is not Sunday church or my weekly small group Bible study. Of course I desire to spend much more time than that in prayer, but even taking out time of one other day a week to pray would be a much needed improvement.

Post On a Weekly Basis

I have mentioned before this this is not my first attempt at blogging. I have always had a lot to say, but many times failed to actually say it. Too often I would go weeks or even months between posts on past blog. Even obvious topics like a post for Christmas, which could be written long in advance of the actual holiday, I never followed through on writing. So my third New Year’s Resolution is to post at least once a week throughout 2024. My plan is to post on Tuesdays or Thursdays, so you look for new posts on those days. You can also subscribe to receive email alerts of new posts.

Writing Fiction Is
My Final New Year’s Resolution

I have always loved to tell stories. Whether they were funny stories, embarrassing stories, controversial stories, or made up stories I have always been a story teller. Developing fictional stories has long been a passion of mine, even though the last time I actually finished writing a story was when I was still in middle school. I am seeking to change that this year. So, getting into the habit of putting a pen to paper and writing fiction is my last New Year’s Resolution. There’s a lot of junk in the culture today, and we need people of faith creating high quality stories, books, shows, movies, etc as alternative options Christians can consume with a clear conscience.

Have You Set Any New Year’s Resolutions?

So those are my New Years resolutions for 2024, what do you think? What ones do you have for this year? At the end of 2024 what do you want the year to have looked like for you? Share it in the comments. Happy New Year, and I hope you had wonderful holidays with friends and family!
